Ryanair Offers Liverpool Flyers Emergency Landings And Chute Rides

by | 4th, January 2010

7207387RYANAIR flight to Agadir, Morocco, from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, is aborted shortly into the trip over concerns of a fire on board. In all, six crew and 116 passengers used emergency chutes to leave the plane.

At a cost of £5 per ride on the chute, the trip offers good value for money. (Only joking.)

Engineers checked the aircraft and confirmed there was no fire. But there could have been. As such, it was a fiver well spent.

Says one holidaymaker:

“Fantastic! The fun starts on board with Ryanair. I was going to spend my holiday money on an in-flight sandwich and scratch cards. But then the emergency landing was offered and I was in like a shot.”

Not everyone was as delighted.

“I’d only just spent money on headphones when the chute opened. With no cash left I was made to pay by credit card, and that meant a handling fee and admin charge. The chute ride came it at $9.60. And because I took my laptop and was wearing a coat, I was charged an extra £30 for “wear and tear”.

One woman who was so scared she soiled herself was encouraged to sign up for an easy payment plan, and should be debt free by late 2012.
