Teens Risk Their Eyes Using Vodka Tampons: Video
DID you hear the one about the vodka tampon? The Local reports on goings on in Germany, where police are worried about a “dangerous new form of alcohol abuse” – inserting vodka-soaked tampons into their vaginas and anuses to get wasted.
Drinking via these novelty orifices apparently hides the small of booze on the breath. But it is dangerous. Police, experts in teenage health, say booze can damage vaginal walls.
But how do we know any kidz are doing it?
The trend arose among teens in the United States, where it is known as “slimming.” But it has reportedly caught on in Scandinavia and other places where alcohol is difficult for young people to acquire.
So. Having acquired the hard-to-get booze the youth then invest in tampons and create a sanitary cocktail? Who’s doing it?
Police in the Baden-Württemburg city of Tuttlingen responded Tuesday to growing online chatter among teenagers that they could become intoxicated using the vodka tampons without having alcohol on their breath.
Teens chatting about new ways to get stoned is what teens do. As every drug is banned or placed out of their reach the youth chat about how they can get high by sniffing market pens, burning nappies or whatever method an internet search for “get me high” coughs up. This does not mean they are doing it.
“I believe this is very dangerous,” head of a children’s clinic in Singen told southern German paper Südkurier last week. “For us this is a new thing.” In early March a 14-year-old girl collapsed during a street festival in Konstanz, apparently highly intoxicated from using a vodka tampon, the paper reported.
But this isn’t new. This report harks back to 1999. And, in any case, tampon vodka is sooo last season. This year all the cool kids are pouring vodka into their eyes:
