Exposed: Daily Mail’s anti-Muslim bollocks on honour killings
MORE anti-Muslim bias in thd Daily Mail, this time on the issue of honour killings and crimes. The paper’s Leon Watson’s name appear on the March 19 story:
Most young British Muslims support violence against women who ‘dishonour’ their families, a Panorama investigation will claim today
Only not all Asian are Muslims. The poll stated:
TWO-THIRDS OF YOUNG ASIANS AGREE FAMILIES SHOULD LIVE ACCORDING TO – THE CONCEPT OF “HONOUR” NEW POLL SUGGESTS
Adding:
A poll commissioned by BBC Panorama suggests that more than two-thirds of young Asians (69%) living in Great Britain agree families should live according to the concept of ‘honour’ – or ‘izzat’ – with 18% of those interviewed agreeing specific acts by a woman seen as bringing her family dishonour were reasonable justification for physical punishment .
And:
While just 6% say that in certain circumstances it can be right to physically punish a female member of the family if she brings dishonour, when presented with a list of possible reasons 18% actually say at least one is reasonable justification.
The Survey said:
Notwithstanding, three times this number (i.e. 18%) in the entire sample selected one or more of five ‘reasonable justifications’ for physical punishment of female members of the family. The figure was highest among Asian Christians (23%), followed by Muslims (20%), Sikhs (14%), and Hindus (13%).
The relative weight attached to each of the five justifications varied somewhat, but generally disobeying paternal wishes was the top concern for Asian Christians (10%), going out in the evening unaccompanied most perturbed Muslims (9%), and wanting to terminate an existing or prearranged marriage preoccupied Sikhs (9%).
The ultimate punishment of ‘honour killing’ was sanctioned by 3% of young Asians, including the same number of Muslims and Hindus, but rising to 4% of Sikhs and Christians.
How the hell did the Daily Mail see that and create the headline:
More than two thirds of young British Muslims believe ‘honour’ violence is acceptable, survey reveals’
Maybe they see what they want to see..?
