Samantha Lewthwaite: The White Widow who tells the brown and black men to kill in Kenya
THE tabloids continue their hunt for the The White Widow:, the nickname given to Samantha Lewthwaite, the British-born women who was married to a man who became a 7/7 bomber and fled to East Africa. Yesterday, the Mirror and Sun told us that she was the brains behind the operation, “barking out orders“ to her “assassins“.
The Sun’s assassins are the nutcases who used precision instruments like grenades and AK47s to murder scores of people out shopping in Nairobi mall. Neither paper wondered too much how a white woman managed to rise to the top of militant Islamic group al-Shabaab, whose view of women is as wombs with brooms than potential leaders of men. In Somalia, the righteous men also like mutilating women’s genitals. But the Sun says that in this climate of sexual equality and feminism, Lewthwaite is the leader.
And these brown-skinned foreigners are too stupid to plan and carry out mass murder alone. They need a White Widow leader and inspiration.It’s like colonialism never went away.
The Belfast Telegraph leads with news that we must “Find her” before she makes lots more white, brown and black widows and widowers:
The Mail, which heard Lewthwaite “bark orders at gunmen in mall massacre“, now wonders if she’s dead:
So. Should we hunt her down or just look for her body in the blood-soaked mall?
The Times is now in on the speculaation. It asks:
“Did White Widow lead terror attack?”
Answer: Dunno. But is it likely?
The Times’ Duncan Gardham, Tom Coghlan and Jerome Starkey in Nairobi then considers the suspect:
Earlier Kenyan Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed said “two or three Americans” and “one Brit” were among those who attacked the mall.
She said in an interview with the PBS NewsHour programme that the Americans were 18 to 19 years old, of Somali or Arab origin and lived “in Minnesota and one other place” in the US . The attacker from Britain was a woman who has “done this many times before,” she said.
Her comments will fuel speculation that British terror suspect Samantha Lewthwaite, who was married to the July 7 bomber Jermaine Lindsay, was involved.
Lewthwaite, dubbed the “White Widow”, is known to be in East Africa and is wanted by Kenyan police over alleged links to a terrorist cell that planned to bomb the country’s coast.
In March last year officials said she had fled to Somalia and that officers were hunting a woman who used several identities, including hers.

It can’t take long to find out, surely.
A Twitter account claiming to represent al-Shabaab yesterday insisted mum-of-three Lewthwaite was alive — and busy training more Islamist fanatics.
It said: “Sherafiyah (Lewthwaite’s Muslim name) is safe.She finished training our mujahideen at disneyland camps and we’re not disclosing her location!”
