Transfer Balls: Manchester United sign Lloris from Spurs in 2019
The Sun leads its sports sections with an exclusive. No, make that an hyperbolic “Mega Exclusive”. Spurs are selling their best player:
It’s the January transfer window. So. Hugo Lloris, for it is he, is off this month?
TOTTENHAM are set to cash in on £25million-rated Hugo Lloris. The French No 1 will be allowed to leave for a Champions League club in the summer — even if Spurs seal a top-four spot of their own.
No. News is that Lloris will leave in the summer.
Lloris, 28, is in his third season at White Hart Lane but the club are willing to cash in at the end of this campaign. Spurs will make a huge profit on the initial £8m they paid Lyon 2½ years ago.
So says Mike McGrath. He’s the hack who told us last summer in the Sun:
HUGO LLORIS has ended fears over his Tottenham future by signing a new five-year deal at White Hart Lane.
Adding:
Lloris is now targeting a place in the Champions League with Spurs.
Half a season is a long time on football. And Lloris is off to Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid, says the Sun.
But good on Spurs for making so much cash on Lloris. McGrath says Spurs bought Lloris for £8m. But in 2012, Sun writer Paul Jiggins noted:
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy left it typically late as he snapped up Lyon keeper Lloris in a deal worth £12m…
But if it utter Balls you’re after, then the Daily Express wins, having reported that Loris is off to Manchester United:
It’s a mega-mega Exclusive!
