Maddywatch: Gazing At Madeleine McCann
MADDYWATCH – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “Madeleine. We blundered says her mum.”
THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER says Gerry and Kate McCann erred. It looks at their interview in the Times yesterday and learns that losing their daughter “shattered everything”.
“THE HUNT FOR MADELEINE” has reached day 125. Madeleine is still missing. And the couple “both doctors” are still searching.
THE SUN page 13: “Maddie parents united.” Gerry and Kate “put on a touching show of love and unity as pals insisted their marriage is as strong as ever.” They held hands, walked, sat and “gazed out to sea”.
THE MAIL: “McCanns show their unity as they plan to come home.”
The parents of Madeleine McCann are strolling hand in hand along the beach. They are “sat gazing out to sea”. (See photograph.) Mrs McCann wears “checked trousers, a black vest top and sunglasses”. Gerry’s clothes are not detailed.
TIMES page 11: Stuart Paul Sparks allegedly stole cash donated to help in the hunt for Madeleine from a charity box in a store in Belgrave Gate, Leicester, in May. Mr Sparks, 37, from Ickworth Close, Leicester, was granted unconditional bail at the city’s magistrates’ court and told to reappear there September 18.
