Madeleine McCann: Tapas Nine, Tapas Seven, Three Arguidos And One Child
MADDYWATCH – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS (front page): “MADELEINE: McCANN FRIENDS QUIZZED TODAY”
Madeleine McCann is returned to the Express’s front page for the first time in weeks – the first time since the paper and its siter title the Daily Star donated money to the McCanns’ fighting fund.
THE SUN: “Kate shrink facing quiz”
A top psychologist who has been treating Kate McCann is to face questioning by the Portuguese police.
Alex Pike flew to Portugal to help distraught Kate, 39, hours after daughter Maddie vanished last May and she is still his patient.Kate and husband Gerry, 40, asked cops to interview Manchester-based Mr Pike to counteract officers’ belief she behaved “suspiciously” following the disappearance.
Can the word of a therapist clear Kate McCann?
THE TIMES: “Lawyer of the Week: Adam Tudor a partner at Carter-Ruck, represents the parents of Madeleine McCann”
What was your most memorable experience as a lawyer?
Naturally it would be pretty hard to top Mr and Mrs McCann’s victory against Express Group. That aside, there’s nothing quite like a libel trial and the tension of a jury verdict. My most memorable was probably when I acted for a local councillor against a tycoon who kept towing banners about her behind his aircraft. The trial went on for a fortnight, my client won very substantial damages and my wife gave birth to our daughter a few hours later.
Hurrah! And hurrah!
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “McCanns name 60 witnesses for re-interview”
Gerry and Kate McCann have given Portuguese police a list of 60 witnesses they hope will see them cleared over the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine.
The “Tapas Nine”, the Sangria Seven and many, many more.
As official suspects, the McCanns can supply the police with the names of people they want to be interviewed and it is expected to take up to three months to work through a comprehensive list.
The end is not yet in sight. What of the list?
It has six categories: friends who were in Praia da Luz, staff at the Mark Warner Ocean Club resort where the McCann family was staying, other holidaymakers, people who spent time with Mr and Mrs McCann immediately after Madeleine’s disappearance and relatives.
The list includes a senior psychologist, Alan Pike, who spent a lot of time with the couple and will vouch for them against allegations that they were hiding their true emotions.
AFP: “Portuguese police arrive to interview the Tapas Seven”
Inded. Tapas nine less Tapas Two – the McCanns – equals Tapas Seven.
