That was Tuesday, and the Irish Times’s Jane Walker has been toiling to locate Our Maddy in the story. She tells of delays and lost files. And then she calls exhibit C…

This is not a new problem. It is one which has been simmering and threatening to explode for years. The final straw came at the beginning of this year when Mari Luz Cortes (4) disappeared from her home near Huelva.

Huelva is close to the Spanish-Portuguese border, less than 100kms (62 miles) from the Algarve resort where the young British child, Madeleine McCann, went missing.

Can inefficiencies in the Spanish courts have affected the search for Madeleine McCann?

Hats off to Walker of the Times for locating Madeleine – who went missing in Portugal – in a story on Spain and the death of a child and the arrest of one Santiago del Valle, “who had joined in the searches but was known to have a criminal record as a pederast.”

If you see Madeleine McCann in a or editorial story do tell us…
