What The Lockerbie Bomber May Yet Tell
Al Megrahi is serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 27 years for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 in 1988 which led to the deaths of 270 people.
What may be uppermost in their Lordship’s minds is this: The original trial was held at Camp Zeist, in the Netherlands.
There was massive security and the arrangement cost £millions. All Judges and advocates had to be transported and housed from Scotland for the trial.
The reason for the little Scotland ex-Army camp in Holland? The safety of the two accused (one was cleared) was paramount and it was felt they were at risk of assassination, not by the British or Americans.
What they knew and could reveal was the issue.
