Hefner The 110-Year-Old Lizard Breeds With Karissa and Kristina Shannon
HATS off to Henry – Hefner to his pals – the 110 year-old New Zealanders and the oldest tuatara to mate at Southland Museum.
Henry squired Mildred (80-ish) in March. In July she laid 11 healthy eggs. This week, all 11 eggs hatched.
Says curator Lindsay Hazley:
“Eleven out of eleven. Bloody brilliant. We had a champagne breakfast to celebrate.”
Henry lives with Mildred and two other females – Lucy and one believed to be called Juliet (22).
Hazley goes on:
“I think he’s a bit shy to mate with such a young woman. After a bit of experience with Mildred and Lucy, maybe he’ll be interested in Juliet next year.”
Hugh Hefner is thought to be thrilled and Kristina and Karissa Shannon applying hand cream as we write…
