George Osborne Stars In Coronation Street Special
IN the “Street of tears”, the Mirror spots the Coronation Street actors paying their respects to the wife of Bill Roache, the show’s very not boring Ken Baldwin.
The front page is half filled with the teary face of Anne Kirkbride, who plays Ken’s lover/wife/cuckold Deirdre in the soap opera.
No, not the face of the lamented Sara Baldwin, whose name is not given in full, she being simply billed as “his wife Sara”. Readers are looking at the face of the actress who plays Ken’s, sorry, Bill’s on-screen wife.
The death scenes were not televised in an hour-long special or omnibus. Sara was not an actress, Sara was real. It is Deirdre, Ken’s wife, who is a work of fiction.
Also there were caterer Roy Neilson, mechanic Michael Le Vell, played by a friend of the family, Sue Nicholls, snooker player Willie Thorne and “Shadow Chancellor” George Osborne, playing himself to no great effect.
