Egyptian Billionaire Faces Death For Suzanne Tamim Murder
WHILE we fret of Jordan and Peter, in Egypt, Egyptian billionaire and former leading political figure Hisham Talaat Moustafa, aka Hesham Talaat Moustafa, has been sentenced to death for the 2008 murder of Lebanese pop star Suzanne Tamim.
Suzanne Tamim rose to stardom throughout the Middle East as the winner of a pop idol contest in Lebanon in 1996.
Hisham Talaat Moustafa has been found guilty of paying $2m to an ex-policeman to kill the singer. The killer, one Muhsin Sukkari, aka Mohsen el-Sukkary, was also sentenced to hang.
The case:
Moustafa is a former chairman of the Talaat Moustafa Group. He is also a leading light of the ruling party politician. Tamim was stabbed to death at her house in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on July 28.
Egyptian media reports have said that Sukkari worked as a security officer at the Four Seasons Hotel in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, which the Talaat Moustafa Group built.
Tamim 31, was found dead in her Dubai apartment at Jumeirah Beach Residence.
Reasons?
Media reports said Tamim had an off-on relationship with Moustafa over a three-year period, which she ended in the months before her death.
Soon afterwards, she married Iraqi kick-boxing champion Riyad al Azzawi, who she met at Harrods in London.
The marriage was said to have prompted a jealous Moustafa to order the killing of his former lover.
An appeal is bound to follow…
