Missing Child Rhys Moorhead News Watch
RHYS Moorehead is missing: Anorak’s at -a-glance look at the news coverage…
Rhys has been found. Boy found alive and well. Does that make news? Tabloid hacks can stand down. The moment passed at 20:07.
Police are “increasingly concerned” about a five-year-old boy who went missing on Monday morning.
Still missing in the Chorley Guardain.
Earlier the news crews were being mobilised:
Cleveland Police said he was found in the street outside a house several miles away in the Berwick Hills area of the town.
Grandfather Tony Moorhead said the whole family were “over the moon”.
A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “There are lots of cameras and news reporters in the cul-de-sac…”
Fact: Number of nws cameras at scene can be correlated to seriousness of news story.
A mother, whose son attends St Bernadette’s RC School along with the missing youngster, said: “He is a real boys’ boy. Rhys towers above everyone else in the class and could easily be mistaken for a seven-year-old.”
His mother, Melanie, was also at the house, which adjoins a public footpath, at the time of the disappearance, said the boy’s great uncle, Brian Moorhead, 57.
“How Tony described it, Melanie was talking to someone in the street this morning, and she’d just turned away for a few moments,” he said. “She said she’d turned back round and Rhys had disappeared. She said it was as if he’d just vanished into thin air.
He had been staying with his grandfather Tony Moorhead, 52, and grandmother Sharon at their detached suburban home. Rhys’s great-uncle Brian Moorhead, 57, said: “He visits them a lot and they love spending time with him. He’s a lovely little lad and he’s always smiling. The last time I saw him was a couple of months ago, and it was when my brother Tony brought him round to see me.”
“Police will have made initial inquiries and it looks like they have come pretty quickly to the conclusion that this could be a major incident.”
Rhys, who has blue eyes, was last seen wearing jeans, maroon trainers and a red short-sleeved top with a hood.

Rhys has been found “safe and well”.
