Michael Jackson Tribute: Profonol Peter Doherty Duets With Mariah Carey
MICHAEL Jackson Tribute Watch: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at Michael Jackson in the news – Profonol Pete Doherty’s Tribute, Jackson rached out to R Kelly, Mariah Carey regrets not being the star of the funeral and a ghost in the tape…
Pete Doherty is to perform a tribute to Michael Jackson.
Smack and crack are old news. Propofol is in. A stars needs a signature drug. Doheryt hasd dabbled but he has never achieved the telling epithet, such as Cocaine Kate, his former lover Kate Moss did, nor the King Of Prop. Michael Jackson.
Also, Doherty will appear on the David Gest.. My Life! A Musical Concert Extravaganza show at the HMV Apollo in Hammersmith, west London. Gest made up one part of that picture of Liza Minnelli, Jackson and Liz Taylor, the one in which all four appear to be melting.
But the drug is all. What will Doherty do to cement his place in the celebrity pantheon of drugs?
LA Times: “Erika Simmons: Transforming cassette tape into art”
Remember cassette tapes? Now, remember when your Walkman ate your favorite LL Cool J album, disembodying the string of tape from the plastic case, leaving you with one less thing to listen to and a pile of black waste? Fond memories.
Erika Simmons, an artist from St. Louis, has turned those nostalgic frustrations into beautiful homages to music legends. Intently ripping into her cassettes, Simmons, 25, molds the lump of tape into sculptures of rock stars.
The piece – Ghost In The Machine – now features Jackson. Whoooooh!
Highlights: Coolio’s stage banter. He called the audience “alcoholic [four-syllable expletives]” during a strange Michael Jackson tribute. He pretended to get shot at before “Gangsta’s Paradise” — and left between the verses.
Daily Express: “CAREY REGRETS JACKSON APOLOGY”
MARIAH CAREY regrets writing a public message apologising for her shaky performance at MICHAEL JACKSON’s memorial service…
Carey, who was close friends with the Thriller star, sang classic Jackson 5 hit I’ll Be There at the service, but struggled to hit the notes and fought back tears as she performed.
Following the show she took to her Twitter.com blog to explain how she became overemotional when she saw Jackson’s gold coffin below the stage.
At the time she wrote, “Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him (Michael) there in front of me.”
She now says:
She says, “I regret sending that message but I was very emotional and I wasn’t happy with my performance. But we all did our best to give Michael the send off he deserves. I just forgot the world could read that. I thought I was just talking to my friends. I shouldn’t have done that because that was really only meant for Michael. That was about him.
So not about you, Mariah Carey. Is it about you this time?
Contact Music: “KELLY TO RELEASE UNFINISHED JACKSON ALBUM”
R&B star R. KELLY is planning to finish and release the album MICHAEL JACKSON was working on when he died. Kelly had worked with the King of Pop on numerous occasions and claims Jackson reached out to him shortly before his June (09) death to discuss his upcoming release.
The pair never arranged any studio time, but Kelly is convinced Jackson would have chosen him to complete his final masterpiece.
But he said I could do it!
The singer tells Blackvoices.com, “I recorded five joints for Michael Jackson (in the past). And we had been talking on the phone about his new album, and I was going to finish what Michael was doing at the time. We’re going to get it out though. Michael liked the way I would try to sing the songs just like him.”
