Jaycee Lee Dugard: Phillip Garrido Helped FBI

by | 7th, September 2009

jaycee3JAYCEE Lee Dugard – Anorak’s look at Jaycee Dugard in the news: Experts baffled, Phillip Garrido cures and helps the FBI, and Lorraine Kelly entertains with missing kids…

First up, police who failed to spot the link between a convicted paedophile rapist with children in his garden and missing children, are now linking Phillip Garrido to pretty much every unsolved case in the last three decades:

CBS News: “Cop Seek Link Between Garrido and School Bus Murders”

Police in northern Nevada are scouring old records of major unsolved cases to determine if any match the profile of Phillip Garrido… one of the cold cases under review involves the murders of two children who also vanished near their school bus stop in Reno in 1989 — Jennifer and Charles Chia. That was a year after Garrido was paroled.

Or as the NY Post puts it: “Monster eyed in kid slays”

“Creepy Phil” Garrido and…

“There might not be any link between the cases and him, but we’d be crazy not to look at the possibility,” said Reno police Lt. Mike Whan.

Like “crazy Phil“. And creepy, too.

Anyhow CBS has spoken to more experts and they tell us:

But the road ahead for Jaycee and her daughters will likely be long. Rehabilitation in these types of cases is not easy, say experts.

But what is an expert? Philip Garrido thinks he is an expert on mental illness:

CBS: “Phillip Garrido Tells FBI He Can Stop Schizophrenics from Turning Violent”

Says the expert Phillip Garrido, the man accused of kidnapping and impregnating Jaycee Lee Dugard and convicted of raping another woman thirty years ago.

He “dropped off his personal manifesto with the FBI a mere four days before he was arrested for allegedly holding Dugard prisoner in his backyard for 18 years.”

Yeah, Phillip Garrido walked into the FBI offices less than week before he was pinched. He then hands out fliers on a campus with his daughters. Anyone else think he wanted to be caught, to tell u his “a powerful, heartwarming story” that “gonna take world news”.

In the document, entitled “Origin of Schizophrenia Revealed,” Garrido claims to have a solution to stop schizophrenics from becoming violent.

“There is new insight that has the potential of helping people who hear voices to possibly stop and re-examine their thinking before committing a violent act on themselves and/or other,” Garrido wrote.

It states that those who hear voices are not sick, but “have by design the freedom to monitor what others do not detect.”..

Like the FBI?

Enough about creepy Phil Garrido. What of his wife, Nancy Garrido?

Daily Mirror: “Jaycee Lee Dugard: ‘Phillip Garrido cut his wife off from family'”

Rapist Phillip Garrido brainwashed wife Nancy and alienated her from her own family, her brother claimed yesterday. “This isn’t the Nancy we knew. I can’t believe this is what she is involved in.”

Irish Independent: “Mind & Meaning: Dugard kidnap highlights one of last taboos”

Patricia Casey investigates an angle for a story:

Of course it is not possible for anybody to determine at this point if Nancy Garrido is guilty as charged but the mere fact of such a charge is shocking and stunning the world.

Well, it is possible and something the police are looking to prove. It’s not possible for a journalist to prove it, but still, let’s read on…

Yet most psychiatrists will have a few patients who report sexual abuse by an older female, sometimes a babysitter, sometimes a teacher but at times by their mother. This, the sexual violation by a mother, is horrifying and incomprehensible.

No, not a taboo, then. It’s common to “most” psychiatrists. And as for being incomprehensible, anyone sane might find the rape of a child incomprehensible in any circumstance.

We demand the facts. The Daily Star has them:

THE wife of monster Phillip Garrido joined in with repeated sex attacks on Jaycee Lee Dugard, it has been claimed. Police are probing whether Nancy Garrido may even have been behind the plot to kidnap Jaycee at the age of 11.

You want facts?

Sick details of her involvement in the case that has shocked the world have begun to emerge after hours of interrogation.

Such are the facts.

Baltimore Sun: “Jaycee’s case horrible but unusual”

This is brought to you by… Geoffrey Greif. Nominative determinism is all around us. Mr Greif tells us of children who have been abused:

Their problems continue well into adulthood. Time helps but does not erase many of their wounds, even 10 and 20 years later. Difficulties continue with forming relationships, allowing their own children freedom, trusting authority figures, bonding with their left-behind parent, and dealing with guilt because they blame themselves for the abduction.

Well, yes…

Whether Jaycee Dugard and her daughters will experience these symptoms cannot be predicted.

See above.

Are you now ready for a game of Tabloid Bingo? William R. Mann is writing for the Canada Free Press:

In “Roosevelt, Obama, and Stockholm”, our writers gives us historical context to Jaycee Lee Dugard:

Du sublime au ridicule il n’y a qu’un pas.” [Tr: There is only one step from the sublime to the ridiculous.]—Napoleon I, after the retreat from Moscow in 1812.

And this links to Jaycee Dugard, or Du Gard or the Napoleonic Du Gards?

What is it about Barack Obama that holds and even commands a majority of likely voters as loyal, true believers and defenders?… It seems to me that nationally we may all be experiencing, to one degree or another, a kind of “Stockholm Syndrome”… Heiress Patty Hearst attempted to employ the Stockholm Syndrome as a legal defense for why she participated in a bank robbery… More recently in the news this summer, Jaycee Lee Dugard… Could we be experiencing a “National Stockholm Syndrome?” I hope not.

I. Vas. Acting. Under. Orders. Says Phillip Garrido, both of them.

More news now for anyone thinking Jaycee Lee Dugard’s story was a foreign affair and something the British media were just gawping at:

Wales Online: “Mum recalls baby snatch hell 21 years on”

THE mother of a baby snatched by a bogus store detective says she’ll forever blame herself for trusting a stranger.

Twenty one years. Beats Jaycee by three years…

Twenty one years on, Maggie Horrell is still living with the pain of losing five-month-old Natalie for a whole five days as she and husband Paul wondered whether she was dead or alive.

Traumatic for mum and dad, of course. But is this on par with the case of Jaycee Lee Dugard?

The Caerphilly family’s drama is uncovered on next Wednesday’s Missing Children: Lorraine Kelly Investigates, on Sky Real Lives.

Wednesdays’ child is full of woe. Missing kids. Now, that’s entertainment. Missing kids. Pull up a chair. Get the sweets in…

It comes as a couple were charged with snatching American Jaycee Lee Dugard when she was just 11 years old and keeping her imprisoned for 18 years.

Bingo!

Maggie and Paul, who went through every parent’s worst nightmare, talk frankly in the programme about what was a major story of its time – and one that struck fear into every mum and dad who heard about it.

Every parent’s worst nightmare… is every journalist’s stock phrase.

Natalie had been found – she had been driven north to Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, by fake detective Delia McCall, 44, who wanted a baby to save her marriage.

Jaycee Lee Dugard was found 18 years after she was kidnapped by a stranger.
