Woody Allen Comes Out In Support Of Roman Polanski, Jeremy Kyle Waits
WOODY Allen has signed a petition calling for Roman Polanski’s release from Switzerland.
Top US directors Woody Allen, David Lynch and Martin Scorsese have signed a petition protesting the detention of Roman Polanski in Switzerland, a French film industry association, SACD, said.
In 1997, Allen married Soon-Yi Previn. Korean-born Soon-Yi was adopted at age eight by Mia Farrow and Andre Previn. A couple of years later, Woody and Mia began a relationship that lasted more than a decade. Then Farrow found naked pictures of 21-year-old Previn in Allen’s apartment in 1991.
Said Allen:
“If somebody told me when I was younger, ‘You’re going to wind up married to a girl 35 years younger than you and a Korean, not in show-business’… I would have said ‘You’re completely crazy’.” He describes his relationship with Previn, 35, as having “a more paternal feeling to it”.
Roman Polanski must be a shoo-in for Jeremy Kyle the movie: My husband married my daughter.
Jeremy Kyle (himself): When did you first fall in love with your step-daughter, you sick, twisted excuse for a man?
Woody Allen: Why-y-y. I-I-I. A moose goes into a party at the Dubrovnick’s mansion in Bel Air…
Break…
JK: “Now on the show we’ve got a man who says he has served time for raping a 13-year-old girl by being forced to live in France. A sick crime. And a fitting punishment….
Others who has signed the petition in favour Polanski, coordinated by the SACD which represents performance and visual artists, include Michael Mann, Wim Wenders, Pedro Almodovar, Darren Aronofsky, Terry Gilliam and the Dardenne brothers.
“We demand the immediate release of Roman Polanski,” it says.
