Pearl Harbor 1941 – Unseen Pictures
The Reader’s Story
Grandma’s 3 sons joined up and the 3 went ashore on D-Day. So we are quite the Patriotic family. My mother’s husband joined after college and sent over to the Philipines as an Officer in fall of 1944 and flew bombing raids in the Pacific. He was killed in late March of 1945 flying a bombing mission and according to the official reports kept his plane flying until his men bailed out and he went down with it and his body never recovered. Left Mom a widow at 20 with two little children – my sister was only 20 months old and I was just going on 3 months old.
