Robin Van Persie’s Broken Ankle Mends In Hours
ARSENAL striker Robin Van Persie is injured on duty for Holland and the papers rub their hands with glee and begin to speculate on how terrible his injury is. Anorak brings you the Anatomy Of A Disaster:
On Sunday the Mail delivered its lead sports story:
“HORROR INJURY FOR VAN PERSIE.”
So horrible was the injury that the back page featured the player holding his ankle. The story was bigger than England’s pro-celebrity match against Brazil and England’s rugby players’ toil against Argentina.
On the Monday:
The Sun featured the news on its lead sports page:
“Wenger torn to pieces
“Arsenal’s star striker could be out for the ENTIRE season.”
In the Daily Express, the news is not so bad:
“Robin Van Persie was ruled out for up to three months.”
And then in the Mail, which one day on from that talk of a “broken ankle” and “horror injury” hears Van Persie say:
“I will be out for four to six weeks.”
In other football news, Fabio Capello continues his metamorphosis into Fabio Crapello, failed England manager…
