Snooker player Jimmy White after emergency surgery to have his appendix removed in Roscommon General Hospital. After being released he went on to the nearby Portiuncula Hospital for further tests. White was due to play an exhibition match in Ballintubber, County Mayo, when he was taken ill. He has cancelled the remainder of his Irish tour and will spend some time recovering in Dublin before returning to London.
