Madeleine McCann: More Speculation, Children for Sale And Joana Cipriano

Kate and Gerry McCann are back in to Portugal for the libel trial against Goncalo Amaral, the detective who penned ‘The Truth of The Lie’, a book questioning the McCanns’ account about what happened to their daughter.
Says Clarence Mitchell:
“The details of their travel plans and itinerary will at their request remain private.”
Which means that journalists will actually have to follow the McCanns rather than simply rocking up for press conferences.

Madeleine McCann is not front page news. The Daily Express leads with “snow” and Myleene Klass’s knife rage. Indeed, in the Daily Express there is not one mention of the media’s Our Maddie.

A SCHOOLGIRL who vanished close to where Madeleine McCann disappeared was sold to child traffickers, a court will be told this week. Joana Cipriano was eight when she went missing from Figueira on Portugal’s Algarve in 2004.
We’ve heard the name before. Remember when:
Goncalo Amaral, 49, is accused of punching and slapping Leandro Silva – who wants £430,000 compensation – during the 2004 hunt for Joana Cipriano, eight.
Back to the news of the “child snatchers”:
Her mum Leonor and uncle Joao Cipriano were each jailed for 16 years for her murder. But Leonor says she now has evidence her daughter was smuggled out of the country by traffickers. Her partner claims Joao confessed to him that – acting alone – he’d sold the youngster to the trafficking gang to raise cash to fund his drug addiction.
That’s the “nine” year old girl the Daily Mirror told us about. The nine-year-old Leonor confessed to playing a part in murdering?
“Four inspectors will stand trial accused of torture. The officers claim that Mrs Cipriano tried to commit suicide by throwing herself off a staircase”
So. Now the girl was sold? But there is no proof of any transaction. But how is this linked to Our Maddie, other than by the thread of Mr Amaral, who has had dealings with both cases?
Madeleine’s doctor parents Kate and Gerry, both 41, are convinced Madeleine, then three, was snatched by child traffickers from their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007. The spot where she vanished is just 10 miles from where Joana went missing.
The Express reported:
Leonor’s partner Antonio Silva says Joao Cipriano confessed in May last year that he was solely responsible for Joana’s disappearance because he wanted to sell her to raise money to fund his addiction to hard drugs.
Mr Silva’s statement, seen by the Sunday Express, says : “The police always refused to investigate the many rumours in ¬Figueira that criminals would be tempted to buy the girl. ”
British criminologist and child protection expert Mark Williams-Thomas called for Joana’s case to be reopened and for an investigation to see if it was linked to Madeleine’s disappearance.
No evidence. Just speculation. The two cases are linked.
Madeleine McCann is missing – still missing. There are no suspects. The parents are innocent. There is no proof of a crime. But there is this in the Daily Record:
Now Amaral, 49, has been being invited to the annual conference of the Madeleine Foundation pressure group.
Their members believe she is dead and her parents bear some of the responsibility.
The McCanns have asked their lawyers to consider what action can be taken to prevent him speaking at the gathering, near Nottingham, at the end of next month.
The couple already have a High Court injunction banning the foundation’s secretary Tony Bennett from making any allegations about Madeleine’s disappearance.
Sources close to the McCanns said the couple were “deeply concerned” about the conference – due to be held on February 27 and 28 at The Liberal Club in Melbourne, Derbyshire – and the invite to Amaral.
