Haiti In Pictures: Winnie Tilin And Redjeson Hausteen Make Sense Of The Incredible

winnie-tilinTHE horror in Haiti is best told in pictures and aided by celebrities – or not. All the broadcast media can do is delivers images of hope. After Redjeson Hausteen today’s ray of light is Winnie Tilin, a 16-month-old pulled alive from the rubble of her family’s home after 68 hours.

The talk was of 500,000 as the papers competed to see which of them could come up with the biggest number.

* Haitian authorities say [the quake] killed 200,000 people.

* Haiti’s Home Secretary Paul Bien-Aimé said: “We have already ¬collected around 50,000 dead ¬bodies. We anticipate there will be between 100,000 and 200,000 dead in total.”
