Rip Torn Is Rip Taylor In Hartford

RIP Torn is in the dock – and so too is Ript Taylor. Journalism is a cut and paste job at the Hartford Courant. Anorak’s Man in LA looks at the bad news:
TRAGIC drunk old badass actor Rip Torn was led into court in shackles this morning to face gun and burglary charges after he was found drunk out of his mind on the floor of a bank in Litchfield, Connecticut, Friday night.
Not much funny about the details in the story– unless you’re reading it on the Hartford Courant’s website, as it mixes Torn’s biographical details with that of bewigged comedian Ript Taylor:
“Known for a zany brand of humor that included wearing wigs and tossing confetti, Torn made regular appearances on television variety shows in the 1960s and ’70s. In all, he’s had roles in more than 100 movies and shows…”
INSTANT UPDATE: The Courant has excised the offending paragraph from the site, but not the outraged readers’ comments!
