Somali Pirate Hostage Rachel Chandler’s Rape Horror: Pictures
IN “My Rape Terror at Hands of Pirates”, Daily Mail readers are treated to the front-page horror story from the mouth of 56-year-old Rachel Chandler, the “British woman being held by Somali pirates”.
She was raped? Well, no. She wasn’t.
In a brief, anguished phone call, described cowering in terror as one of the gang burst into her tent.
And..? and then..? And nothing.
She was…
“saved at the last moment when other guards returned and stopped the would-be rapist.”
The Mail has the facts. Well, no. The facts are from a “Nairobi-based reporter” who is “so reliable” a “source of information about the Chandlers’ plight” that his words cannot be corroborated nor attributed to a name.
It is just fact. Take his word for it. And it gives the Mail its front-page scare story that Mrs Rachel Chandler has not been raped. But she could have been, readers. And that is terrible.
Says our man in the know:
“After I spoke to her, one of the other guards told me that this guy has now been transferred to another job and will not be allowed near Mrs Chandler again. But she is still afraid and said that all four of the pirates guarding her have been beating her, even though they objected to the sex attack.”
Facts.
