Maxine Carr and her partner, Ian Huntley, 28, the caretaker at Soham Village College, are being questioned by detectives about the disappearance of the two girls. Police said that they had agreed to give witness statements. Officers are searching their house in the girls' home village of Soham in Cambridgeshire, and the local school, Soham Village College. 16/04/03: Soham suspects Ian Huntley and Maxine Carr were appearing together in court, for the first time. They were due in the dock in Court One at the Old Bailey where they were due to enter their pleas to a number of charges. Caretaker Huntley, 29, is accused of murdering Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells, both aged 10, who disappeared from Soham, Cambridgeshire, last year. He is further charged with conspiring with Carr, 26, to pervert the course of justice. 25/07/04: Maxine Carr claimed in a interview with the Mail on Sunday, that she had no idea that Ian Huntley had killed Soham schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman when she lied to police to protect her former boyfriend. As she broke her silence for the first time since her release from prison, the former classroom assistant said she hoped to convince the public that she had been unaware he was a murderer.
