15th APRIL: On the day in 1989 overcrowding at the Liverpool v Nottingham Forest FA Cup semi-final football match led to the deaths of 95 people. Liverpool fans at Hillsborough, trying to escape severe overcrowding during the FA Cup semi-final football match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. On 15/04/99, Liverpool will mark the 10th anniversary of the tragedy (13/4/99). * 96 people died and 170 were injured in the Hillsborough disaster. The dead will be honoured at the 10th anniversary with a traditional memorial service at Liverpool football stadium, Anfield. 12/4/01: 43 people have died and scores of others injured following a stampede of supporters at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, during a local soccer derby match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. 15/4/04: Thousands of football fans were attending a ceremony to mark the 15th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. The memorial service was taking place at the Kop stand at Liverpool Football Club's Anfield stadium.
