Stephen Griffiths: Trisha, Evil Eyes, Sex Acts And A Ripper Yarn
STEPHEN Griffiths: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at the Crossbow Cannibal in the news – Evil eyes, Nine bodies, a case full of ills and sex acts…
Griffiths, 40, has been charged with murdering three women who worked as prostitutes Suzanne Blamires, Susan Rushworth and Shelley Armitage. There is little news, so the media get to padding. Get this insightful Mirror headline:
Police to quiz Stephen Griffiths over whereabouts of missing bodies
Well, yes. Although they might have already asked him.
A suitcase containing tools was pulled out of the river over the weekend and has yet to be forensically tested.
A suitcase? Not the canvas bag, the so-called Murder Kit? The Telegraph has more:
Scientists are still waiting to examine a black canvas flight bag recovered by police divers from the bed of the River Aire around 200 yards from where parts of Miss Blamires’ body were recovered in Shipley. An initial inspection suggested it contained knives, hacksaws, some human tissue.
Human tissue? Or animal tissue?
After a debate over the most rudimentary fact, hats off, then, to the Star’s Jerry Lawton for moving the story on.
Stephen Griffiths appeared on a Trisha show called Big Is Not Beautiful with ex girlfriend Kathy Hancock.
More on her.
Former prison warder Kathy, now 37, was invited on after shedding 10st in weight.
Do you think Mr Griffiths likes the limelight? He’s the self-styled Crossbow Cannibal. Only, that nickname isn’t sticking:
Daily Star: “THE ‘RIPPER’ PAID ME £40 FOR SEX ACT”
A VICE girl has told how she believes she fled the Crossbow Cannibal five days after he had allegedly murdered her best pal. Louise Duffy, 39, said she “knew deep inside” that Shelley Armitage, 31, had come to harm after she vanished on April 26.
Go on about the “sweet person“?
A man approached her in a blue hatchback but instead of spending the whole night with him, she performed a sex act and fled with £40 of his cash because she “didn’t like his eyes”. Last night Louise said running away on a hunch was “the best decision I’ve ever made”.
Maybe. But it might not have been him. Although in the Express it was Griffiths. Paul Jeeves hears the same story and presents it as fact:
A VICE girl has told how she fled in terror from the man who calls himself the Crossbow Cannibal after he gave her £40 to spend the night with him.
Louise Duffy, 39, says her encounter with alleged killer Stephen Griffiths came five days after her best friend Shelley Armitage had vanished from Bradford’s red light zone in April.
Evil! Stephen Griffiths is the alleged serial killer linked to the disappearance of nine women – by the media. Says South Yorkshire’s Star:
Detective Chief Superintendent Steve Talbot, head of Specialist Crime Services for South Yorkshire Police, said: “At the moment there is nothing to suggest links between any of our unsolved suspicious deaths and the Stephen Griffiths’ case in West Yorkshire.
What do we know about the alleed victims, presumed dead?
Huddersfield Examiner: “Missing Bradford prostitute Shelley Armitage dreamed of modelling career”
Lynsey Barron, 31, became best friends with Ms Armitage after they met as teenagers at St Joseph’s College in Bradford.
She said: “There was potential there and Shelley could have been a beautiful model.
Shelley Armitage“We both started drugs but Shelley never managed to get out of that spiral.”
Lives wasted. Lives lost. But the Socialist Worker sees an opportunity to further its agenda:
“What’s behind the Bradford killings?” asks Siân Ruddick.
Well, Stephen Griffiths has evil eyes and…
The murder of three women working as prostitutes in Bradford has shone a light on what is, for much of the establishment, an uncomfortable subject.
It’s pretty uncomfortable for anyone sane, isn’t it? Unless you love the macabre, like Stephen Griffiths?
