Stephen Griffiths: Crossbow Cannibal Makes Suicidal Bid For Attention: Wins?
STEPHEN Griffiths: He’s committed suicide by eating himself. The vain Crossbow Cannibal is no more. Well, not quite. It’s more a cry for attention for man whose thunder was stolen by Derrick Bird. The man accused of murdering Suzanne Blamires, Shelley Armitage and Susan Rushworth is in the news:
The Mirror (front page): “CROSSBOW CANNIBAL’S SUICIDE BID”
It’s an “exclusive”
“Griffiths found in cell with sock round neck”
For man who allegedly killed three women, and has been linked to the disappearances of six more, his killing method seems lacking in effort.
The Sun (font page): “Cannibal suspect suicide bid in cell”
This is no an exclusive, so lacks the Mirror’s exclusivity.
University student Griffiths, 40 – accused of murdering three prostitutes – is believed to have used a sock and a plastic bag in his attempt.
A jail source said: “The guards found him on the floor of his cell blacked out. He had obviously tried to kill himself.“
Obviously. The man who liked sex with prostitutes and was allegedly into weirdness could not have been truying a spot of autoerotic asphyxiation?
The Mail says not:
“The guards found him on the floor blacked out,’ a prison source said. ‘It was clear he had tried to kill himself.”
The Mirror finds a source to lace the opuinion with a judgement:
“He had a sock around his neck and a bag over his head so it was clear he had tried to kill himself but failed miserably. He tried to take the coward’s way out but it didn’t work.”
But he did make it back onto the front pages. Job done?
