Stephen Griffiths Failed To Learn From Harold Shipman And Derrick Bird

STEPHEN Griffiths: As Anorak reported yesterday, Stephen Griffiths – the Crossbow Cannibal who didn’t eat their victims but tossed their remains into the River Aire, allegedly – attempted suicide to get back on the news agenda. Or was it a dabbling in auto-erotic asphyxiation? The media reacts.

The Star tells its readers:

CROSSBOW CANNIBAL SUICIDE BID AFTER BEING KNOCKED OFF THE FRONT PAGES

The Star tells its readers that news on Page 13.

Stephen Griffiths’ alleged bid for notoriety has been scuppered by Derrick Bird and the World Cup.

Fellow lags at Wakefield Prison, West Yorks, began taunting Griffiths with chants of “You’re not famous any more” as media interest switched to Bird. A jail insider said: “The so-called Crossbow Cannibal was forgotten.”

And how hard did Griffiths – an alleged killer – try to kill himself? The Express is damning:

The Bradford University criminology student was being held on remand at the jail where serial killer Dr Harold Shipman managed to hang himself in 2004.

It’s less a snuff movie than a muff movie – the muff snuff.

And then there was Derrick Bird, who had his murders captured on CCTV. News on that in the Mail:

The man who called himself the ‘crossbow cannibal’ in court was pulling a plastic bag over his head when the guard saw his actions on a monitor. Griffiths then tied his socks around the bottom of the bag to try to suffocate himself.

Still, if England fail to win the World Cup, then Griffiths will surely return to the news fore. If they win, he’s no-one…
