Fred Dibnah’s Aladdin’s Cave Is Open
FRED Dibnah is now a museum. The Bolton News puts the opening of Fred Dibnah in understated tones. You can’t help but think that Dibnah, one of the top half dozen TV steeplejacks, would have approved:
THEY travelled from as far as Sutton Coldfield and Loughborough to look around Fred Dibnah’s “Aladdin’s cave” of a work yard.

Steeplejack, Fred Dibnah, celebrates at his Bolton home, after being awarded an MBE for services to heritage and Broadcasting in the New Years Honours List. 16/11/04: Celebrity steeplejack Fred Dibnah will be buried in his home town. The colourful and eccentric television personality died aged 66 on November 6 after a three-year battle with cancer. A public service will be held at Bolton Parish Church at noon before his coffin is carried through the town centre behind his steam engine Betsy.
