Kyron Horman: Desiree Young Wants Terri Horman To ‘Bring Kyron Home’
KYRON Horman is missing. All eyes are on Terri Moulton Horman, his step-mother. She was the last person we know to have seen Kyron alive. You can read the case history here. Today’s news round-up:
There is no evidence to say that Terri Horman has done harm to Kyron Horman. She is not a suspect. But the whispering campaign is loud. The police seem to be using the media to get a reaction.
Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, goes on the TV:
Kyron is still alive! We would like all of you, everyone, to continue to get his face out there. Continue looking for him in your day to day activities. We pray each and every day for Kyron. We are working with investigators daily to bring Kyron home. We are extremely confident in how the investigation is going to bring him home. We implore Terri Horman to fully cooperate with the investigators to bring Kyron home.
Bring him home? Kyron Horman went missing on June 7.
Staton declined to comment on whether investigators believe Kyron left the school in a vehicle, or whether they have eliminated sex offenders who live anywhere near the area as suspects. But the sheriff repeated earlier assurances that authorities believe Kyron’s disappearance is an isolated event.
“We have no evidence … that this is a serial type of event that’s taking place,” he said.
There is not much evidence of much at all. All we have is the family to stare at. And their press conferences are getting to be the main event:
Horman said the family’s goal was to make “the story” about Kyron. With news of the divorce and investigators homing in on the stepmom, media coverage (including in WW) has increasingly focused on Kyron’s troubled family.
First came Horman’s “ground rules,” as he described them. No cameras. No recordings. Everything was off the record and couldn’t be reported, unless agreed otherwise. Horman made everyone in the room agree to these rules before proceeding. And so this roomful of reporters consented, in essence, not to be reporters.
The Oregonian reports that it and The Willamette Weekly were barred from a closed-door meeting between the Hormans and a dozen other journalists because the family said the papers had focused too much on their personal history, rather than on the search for Kyron.
With no sign of Kyron Horman, what should the media do?
The Hormans are upset because the news coverage surrounding their son’s disappearance has centered on Kyron’s stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman. But that’s hardly the fault of the papers.
Well, quite. Kaine Horman, Kyron’s dad, has left the family home, secured a restraining order against Terri Horman, barring here from seeing him or their young daughter, and not included her in the aforesaid press conferece…
Why. Do. They. Stare?
