Council Censors Beaver Of Minnesota For Looking Like Female Genitals
TO BEMIDJI, Minn. to see the beaver statue. It’s a real beaver. But some people think they can see a woodland creature. Others see the female genitalia.
Beaver Beaver is the work of Deborah Davis of Blackduck, one of nine fibreglass beaver sculptures painted by area artists. Davis’s beaver portrays a praying woman’s hands.
Other just saw a vagina. And the piece was removed. Says Davis:
“My intent was to paint Mother Nature, Mother Earth. I didn’t understand that some people saw genitalia. … I understand people see different things in art, and they need to be free to do that. … My intent was to paint a praying woman.”
Nope. It’s female genitals alright. Or “praying young man”, as we call it…
