Raoul Moat: The Farmer, The Old Soldier And The Gun

by | 8th, July 2010

RAOUL Moat is surrounded. Unless he’s already in Scotland, that is. The police are swarming over Rothbury like the Army on a training exercise. The news media is full of no news and images of reporters showing you the kind of weapon the police could use to blow Moat’s brains out.

Get his update over the newswires – caption to a photo of smiling woman with a dog:

Farmer Jessica Taylor, 26, of Wagtail Farm, Rothbury with her Jack Russell Pip. Her family farm has been repeatedly searched in the hunt for Raoul Moat and today she said she felt safe despite the gunman still being at large. (see above)

Woman feels safe. Read all about it! In other news, Raoul Moat’s uncle Charlie Alexander says he would lead the fugitive out of hiding and safely into custody if friends he believed were helping him disclosed his whereabouts.

The 72-year-old former Warrant Officer with The Royal Artillery, said: “If he would get in touch I would be prepared to meet him.”

But he hasn’t got in touch. And the police are telling us that Moat is now a threat to everyone and anyone:

Killer Raoul Moat has now issued threats against the ‘wider public’, senior police have confirmed at a press conference.

Forget alleged killer. The Northumberland Gazette does not deal in the niceties of legality:

Acting Chief Constable Sue Sim said new information on the 37-year-old fugitive had come to light in the last 12 hours.

So. He’s going to kill anyone. Having presented that as a fact, the police fail to specify why it is a fact:

But Northumbria Police has declined to comment on the nature of Moat’s latest threat, who it concerns or how they received the information.
