Kyron Horman’s ‘Homicide’ In Pictures And No News

by | 28th, July 2010

KYRON Horman: Anroak’s at-a-glance round-up of the missing Oreaon boy in the news. Today: the ‘homicide’, the ‘suspect’, the persecution of Terri Horman, the character assassination of DeDe Spicher and no news presented as fact:

The Smear Job

All the police have an idea that Terri Horman had something to do with Kyron Horman’s disappearance. They have no proof. They have no evidence. But they do have the media to apply the pressure and crank up the whispering campaign. The aim seems to be to make Terri Horman crack. As a plan it is painfully weak.

As the report goes:

Law enforcement investigating the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman have been putting pressure on a small circle of friends of his stepmom Terri Moulton Horman, including a 43-year-old Tualatin woman named DeDe Spicher.

And if you want evidence, police sources tell news sources to tell readers, who are then free to judge:

Detectives learned that Spicher, who shares Terri Horman’s passion for fitness and gardening, was doing gardening work for a Northwest Portland homeowner on June 4. She abruptly left the house about 11:30 a.m. and didn’t return until an hour to 90 minutes later.

Kyron Horman went missing on June 4.It is alleged that Terri Horman asked a landscape gardener to kill her husband Kaine Horman (pictured). The police are kicking up daisies and clutching at straws.

And then it gets worse:

In a statement late tonight, Kaine Horman and Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, and Desiree’s husband, Tony Young, said they had been briefed by law enforcement and believe Spicher is hampering the investigation. They implored her to cooperate.

Tony young is a policeman. He says he has received no special news or insider tips. Desiree Young wear a police badge as a kind of amulet about her neck. The police have bene talking to them off the record and then expecting them to go on it. A statement is issued about DeDe Spicher:

“She has not only been in close communication with Terri but has been providing Terri with support and advice that is not in the best interests of our son. Additional information provided shows that she is refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, she is also going as far as to suggest to others that may have information regarding Kyron’s disappearance, not to cooperate as well.”

Or as DeDe Spicher says:

A Multnomah County grand jury investigating the disappearance on Monday subpoenaed Terri Horman’s close friend DeDe Spicher. Spicher’s attorney, Chad Stavely, said Spicher was asked no questions but told to return, possibly within a few weeks.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Norm Frink declined to comment.

Stavely said Spicher is fully cooperating with investigators, including an interview last week that lasted more than three hours. Stavely disputed allegations made in a statement last week by Kaine Horman and the Youngs, that Spicher was advising others not to talk to law enforcement.

“We’ve had several follow-up visits with detectives and the lead prosecutor, and the idea she’s encouraging other people not to cooperate is just completely not founded in any fact,” Stavely said.

The media is amplifying the whispering campaign. No evidence. No proof. But who needs either when you can point and allege. Just keep applying the pressure and hope the target snaps. Maybe they will confess to whatever crime is supposed to have befalled Kyron Horman – and the police haven’t yet nailed that one down – just to make it stop?
Here’s Desiree and Tony Young’s full statement delivered in the court of public opinion to armchair detectives:

“Good evening,

“We have been briefed by law enforcement on the most recent developments in Kyron’s case. We have been informed that they have identified a person that has been in close communication with Terri Moulton Horman since Kyron went missing and her name is DeDe Spicher. She has not only been in close communication with Terri but has been providing Terri with support and advice that is not in the best interests of our son. Additional information provided shows that she is refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, she is also going as far as to suggest to others that may have information regarding Kyron’s disappearance, not to cooperate as well. We implore DeDe Spicer (sic) to come forward and cooperate with the investigators in any way that they need in order to assist us in finding our son. We will state further that if we find out through the investigation that she caused a delay in us finding our son due to her lack of cooperation, we will pursue civil remedies in this matter.

“We as a family cannot understand how anyone can look at Kyron’s smiling face, having information and choose not to help bring him home. Please remember what this is about, it’s about bringing a wonderful little boy back to his family – Desiree, Tony, and Kaine

What Say The Armchair Detectives?

C.W. Jensen, a former homicide detective, told CBS News, “They want all the marbles, and when they have probable cause for ‘the homicide,’ then they’re gonna move forward”.

Kyron Horman is dead? Have you seen the body, Mr Jensen? No need. But he’s got the guilty party:

Jensen explained, “She is the suspect, was the suspect, and will be the suspect until she’s arrested and is the defendant.”

No she, Terri Horman, is not the suspect. The former detective is not bothering with the facts:

Clemens [TV wonk] asked Jensen, “Is there a possibility that Terri Horman was not involved?”

Call the libel lawyers!

Jensen replied,”I cannot imagine a scenario where she was not involved.”
Call two libel lawyers – and get them on a pro bono deal. This one’s a shoo-in.

Says Desiree Young

Desiree Young told People magazine Tuesday that, despite repeated pleas for Terri Horman to cooperate with police, she’s depending on the investigation to bring her son home.

“I believe that he’s stashed,” she said.

The Evidence:

Kaine Horman and Desiree Young say on the day Kyron disappeared, Kyron’s stepmother, Terri Horman, sent several emails to Young that led her to feel something was wrong.

Oh?

Instead of her usual long, chatty messages, these were “one sentence e-mails” that Young called “strange.”

“She e-mailed me three of four times that day, which is kind of strange,” Young told The Oregonian.

The Reward

Meanwhile, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday it is doubling its reward for information about Kyron’s whereabouts from $25,000 to $50,000. An anonymous donor is funding the reward.

The Tips

Investigators said they had received around 3,500 tips since the boy disappeared from Skyline Elementary on June 4…

And they have not one shred of evidence as to what happened to him…
