Madeleine McCann: Rhys Jones, Peacocks And Pre-Teen Swimwear Photos

by | 24th, August 2010

MADELEINE McCann is back in the news because a 48-year-old grandfather called Rhys Jones has been taking pictures of boys in their swimwear as he holidays on the Algarve. He is having beach holiday in Vilamoura. The boys are, reportedly, aged 8 to 15.

Parents approach him. They don’t like it. He is “arrested”. He is an arguido.

Mr Jones works for Peacocks, the high-street clothing chain based in Cardiff.

He says he was taking the photos for research. Peacock sells swimwear for boys. Mr Jones is the international operations and development controller for Peacocks. Says he:

“I was absolutely stupid. When parents approached me I realised what an idiot I’d been. I can fully understand the parents’ reaction. I’ve been bloody stupid. My wife keeps telling me I’m an idiot – she’s right, I was. But I didn’t try to sneak any pictures, I did it all openly.”

But why is this news? Well:

The beach is 50 miles from where Madeleine McCann disappeared from her parents’ apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007.

How close to Praia does an alleged crime have to take place before it becomes a Maddie crime?

While you ponder that, Mr Jones becomes the Sun’s:

MADDIE BEACH PERV

No word is given of his explanation. All readers get is a big picture of Our Maddie – the benchmark of missing children…
