Man Surfs Wave Of Raw Sewerage In 27 Pipe: Chilean Miners Impressed
DANIEL Collins, 20, usptaged the Chilean miners in their uphill bobsleigh by riding a wave of raw sewage in a 27 inches wide pipe in Missouri.
The sewerage, described as whatever you brush or flush, might have killed Collins, who had climbed down a manhole. He fell when his safety harness broke.
Says Antonio Smith, the firefighter who rescued Collins:
“It was really nasty. Once you pop the cover, the methane gas just comes up to you, kind of stings you a little bit.”
Around a mile and half later, Collins was found. Says Smith:
“We asked him if he could get up, and he kind of stumbled to the ladder. By then his knees were buckling, so we knew he was kind of weak.”
He got hypothermia. The Chilean miners got a heroes welcome…
