Monkeys Run Japanese Trains: RMT Gorillas Concerned
ROLL over, Fat Controller, monkeys Nehime are the new station masters at Hojo-cho station in Hyoto, Japan.
The monkeys, aged seven months and three months, are easily identifiable in their smart blue uniforms and matching hats.
The aim is to use the monkeys to attract users onto the trains. Passenger will thrill at the chance of being kept safe and sound by two apes. Says one RMT union insider:
“You pay peanuts, you get monkeys. It’s bananas. It could never work here – the gorillas would never stand for it.”
