EDWIN Rist, 22 and a US citizen, has admitted to the Beak at Hemel Hempstead Magistrates’ Court to stealing 299 bird skins from the Natural History Museum at Tring in Hertfordshire to get the cash to buy a new flute.
The museum holds around 750,000 bird skins. The house of horror’s director of science is Professor Richard Lane. He says some of the skins are “literally priceless”.
