The Unicorn Cow Presents A World Of Monsters

IN China, Jia Kebing owns a unicorn cow. The cow has a horn on its head. The horn is 8 inches proud. Says Jia:

“My farm is famous in this region for this cow and people come in here just to see it.”

Anorak is all for new animals. We live in an age when new creatures are hard to come by. The Victorians had news of rhino and tigers, creatures of fantasy made real by having them killed, stuffed and brought home to prove the fact. Darwin spoke of magical birds. Georgians had news of kangaroos. We have a Montauk (an otter with alopecia) and microorganisms.

So. Hail to the Chinese, who can improve on existing animals to make them things of wonder.

AFTER Goat Kid, meet Lamb Boy, a calf with human face born in a village not far from the city of Izmir, Turkey. Says vet Erhan Elibol: “I’ve seen mutations with cows and sheep before. I’ve seen a one-eyed calf, a two-headed calf, a five-legged calf. But when I saw this youngster I could not believe my eyes. His mother could not deliver him so I had to help the animal.” He’s got his mother’s ears: The lamb’s head had human features on – the eyes, the nose and the mouth – only the ears were those of a sheep. Can global warming be blamed? The local governor explains: “This incident is very shocking. It is my first time to see such an evil thing. It is really embarrassing. The head belongs to a man while the body is that of a goat. This is evident that an adult human being was responsible. Evil powers caused this person to lose self control. We often hear cases of human beings who commit bestiality but this is the first time for such an act to produce a product with human features.” Oh, really..?
