TOMMY Sheridan lied about a visit to Cupid’s, a swinger sex club in Swinton, Manchester. He said he was not an adulterer. He took the News of The World to court. He won £200,000 in damages. The NoTW said he had lied on oath. Today, a jury agreed.
The case was an entertaining affair. The best quotes from it can be read here. But what about the sex club? Well, it looks not a lot unlike a bad guest house -all cheap-looking wood veneer doors, hideous carpets and bad lighting. Looking at the photos make you wonder about the smell of the place. Dettol with undertones of burnt toast and full-fat milk?
The “cinema” turns out to a big telly in a room with a few shiny chairs. And that’s one of the better bits:
