Welsh Council Hires Fake Drunks To Test Bar Staff: Police And Hacks Rejected

by | 14th, January 2011

TO check that pubs in the area were serving booze responsibly, as per the Conwy and Denbighshire Community Safety Partnership, the North Wales council invested £4,000 in fake drunks. And who did they hire to play the part of the “professional witnesses”? Coppers? Councillors? Journalists? No. They hired actors.

The actors spent three weekend pretending to be drunk, staggering about the place “dressed in dishevelled and stained clothing”, slurring their speech and falling over.

They also told bar staff they were drunk as they ordered more drinks…

Staff found serving the ‘drunks’ were provided with free training instead.

Maybe a better course of action would be to pay for more training for the actors. Next time, hire the journalists. Come as you are…
