Joanna Yeates: Vincent Tabak’s Beanpole Surprise (Photos)
JOANNA Yeates: Vincent Tabak is the man in the news. He’s been arrested. He lives at Flat 2 44 Canynge Road, Clifton, Bristol. Joanna Yeates used to live in a property in the same building. She lived at Flat 1. Mr Tabak has lived has the property since 2009.
Police have not named Mr Tabak as a suspect. They did not afford Chris Jefferies the same courtesy. Back then, the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve, warned newspaper editors about the dangers of publishing “irrelevant or improper material”. The newspapers went to town on Mr Jefferies, giving him The Full Murat.
Will the press treat Mr Tabak with some respect and news of his apparent arrest with circumspection? His Facebook photo remain a gift to armchair sleuths. But will he be monstered?
The Sun is ever informative:
One colleague at consultant engineers Buro Happold in Bath said: “He is everything you expect from a Dutch bloke.”
Cloggs? Bag of weed? Good use of the ball?
“He’s quiet, very laid-back and from what I know has a good sense of humour. He never seems to be flustered and is very polite. Vincent is an incredibly intelligent man. He was popular. and never struck me as the sort of person who had enemies.”
Good news for the Dutch, there. Not all Dutchmen are like Geert Wilders, Mohammed Bouyeri or Nigel de Jong.
One after one people who know Mr Tabak arrive to say that he is a likeable, intelligent and decent bloke.
Was he around when the search for the killer was at its apogee?
The Daily Mail has been told that he left Britain for Holland to spend Christmas with his family two days after the landscape architect was last seen alive.
Anything more? Yes, the Telegraph tells us:
Joanna Yeates murder: a quiet, lonely Dutchman who came to life after finding love
Anything else? The Mail says he’s a “lanky and talented Dutchman”.
Oh yes…
To his former neighbours in Bath, Somerset, 32-year-old Mr Tabak – who is 6ft 4in tall – was known as a ‘mild-mannered beanpole’.
Go on…
Indeed, on the street where the sailing enthusiast lived until 18 months ago, news of yesterday morning’s arrest was met with astonishment.
Sailing enthusiast, eh…
Says someone who knows him:
“He was a very nice and considerate young man. We were sad when he left. He was very personable and polite.”
What about his blonde lover?
Miss Morson, works as a treasury analyst for Dyson in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. Her father, Geoffrey, declined to discuss developments yesterday at the £1million detached home in one of the most exclusive roads in Cambridge.
Alright for some, eh.
The Canadian citizen, who has worked in the U.S. as a lawyer, said: ‘I don’t know anything. I don’t know the young woman who was reported to be murdered, although I am very sorry about what happened to her.
Any word from them?
Tanja’s mother, Elisabeth, expressed concern at his welfare, saying: “We saw what happened to the landlord and don’t want to see that happen to our lovely Vincent.”
A man is helping the police with their inquiries. Mr Tabak has not been charged with any crime. Mr Chris Jefferies is on police bail. He denies any involvement in the death of Joanna Yeates.
