THE National Television Awards in pictures: After the Cheryl Cole v Kerry Katona tattoo Smack Down, all eyes fell on Louie Spence, that prancing, gurning, mincing, shrieking, 1970s TV recidivist star of Pineapple Dance Studios.

Spencer has never disappeared up his own arse – but someone else seems to have. This might have the makings of a new docu-soap: Inside Louis Spence. Cue the Michael Buerk voice over: “Light fell on the camp and with darkness came the familiar cries of despair…”
