Rebecca Black To Perform For Rebels In Libya: Gaddafi Pays
REBECCA Black’s dire tune in praise of Friday has been downloaded 2million times.
And not all purchases have been made by Arab despots keen to keep their people off the street by blaring the thing from Tannoys.
Friday is fun, fun, fun. Well, not for you Jewish kids. But for everyone one else it is. It. Is. FUN!
Forbes.com reports on how Black is now rich – because if Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears and STEPs can do it, then so can anyone with a peachy smile, good marketing and a precociousness that would make Violet Elizabeth Bott swallow her own puke can be a hit with the pre-teens and men on police registers:
Since hitting the onlinwe music store last Monday, “Friday” has amassed a staggering number of downloads, reportedly topping 2 million; the song currently sits at #45 on the iTunes Top Singles chart. According to 101 Distribution, an independent music distributor, iTunes pays out $.70 per single download in the United States. That’s a much juicier check for Black and Ark Music Factory; even if the numbers are exaggerated, the intake from “Friday” could easily top $1 million. What’s more, Black is planning to release an acoustic version of the song to disprove speculation that her voice is reliant on AutoTune. Cha-ching!
The good thing is that Black does not want to be terrible singer of terrible songs. She will one day want to record a good song that is not aural waterboarding. This will be her undoing. She will be the world’s first one miss wonder. (Unless Simon Cowell signs her up and she mates with Jedward, in which case she will go on… forever!)
