RIP John Sullivan: The BBC Repeats Its Love
RIP John Sullivan. You wrote Dear John, Citizen Smith, Just Good Friends (an Anorak guilty pleasure) and Only Fools and Horses. You were only 64. The BBC will mark the passing of a writer who made some of the broadcaster’s best stuff. Expect a huge retrospective and lots of repeats*.
* Repeats are no bad thing. When the theatre, ballet or opera shows things again it is because the product is deemed worthy by an elite. When telly repeats a show, the critics get snotty.
