Artist Suffocates In Performance Artwork

THE art world is taking note of Colombian art student John Jairo Villamil. He died in his artwork, the do-not-try-this-at-home Head In Plastic Bag –
The work featured Villamil with a bag over his head and his feet immersed in a bucket of water. In one had he held a chain with bills in one hand and a leaf in the other.
Before an audience at the Universidad del Bosque, the 25-year-old performed his art. As he panted for life and convulsed the audience sat and watched, thinking it part of the show.
