The New York Post ‘Raped’ ‘Innocent’ Frog Dominique Strauss-Kahn But Ignored Murdoch’s ‘Chez Perv’
NEWS is that Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the IMF, might be innocent. News is that the man who caused the New York Post to thunder “FROG LEGS IT” and yell “CHEZ PERV” might not be guilty.
The media reports that the woman who says the French politico tried to rape her might not be telling the truth. Well, quite. The case has yet to be heard and tried. Mr Strauss-Khan is on bail in New York. Strauss-Kahn has been charged with seven counts including attempted rape, sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment. He might have done it. He might not have done it. Guilt should not be presumed.
The rumours are that the Guinea-born hotel maid who made the allegation that a naked and aroused Strauss-Kahn tried to rape her might be an illegal immigrant. She might have lied in her asylum application.
The BBC reports:
Although forensic tests found unambiguous evidence of a sexual encounter between Mr Strauss-Kahn and the woman, prosecutors now do not believe much of what the accuser has told them about the circumstances or about herself, the The New York Times reports.
The New York Daily News writes:
There even appears to be a smoking gun: Less than a day after Strauss-Kahn’s arrest, the Bronx accuser had a telephone conversation with an incarcerated “high-end, profitable drug dealer,” said one source with knowledge of the imperiled case.
During the jailhouse chat, the maid discussed how she could cash in by accusing the political and financial titan. The damning talk was caught on tape.
“The DA’s office has concluded she materially misled the grand jury,” said a source close to the case. “The case has gone to hell. It’s a wreck.”
The story is that a man charged with possessing 180kg of marijuana was one of many who deposited around $100,000 of cash into the woman’s bank account over the last two years.
On the maid’s side is Kenneth Thompson, her current attorney. On June 6, he said:
“Some of you in the media have portrayed the victim as being part of some sinister plot to bring down Dominique Strauss-Kahn. That’s just not true. The victim is simply a hard-working single mother who got up every morning and went to work to earn a living cleaning hotel rooms in order to provide for herself and her young daughter. She is going to come into this courthouse, get on that witness stand and tell the world what Dominique Strauss-Kahn did to her.”
Strauss-Khan spoke of a sinister plot to undo him before his arrest. But the news media thrives on sensation. And what is more sensational than a powerful man being caught with his trousers down? Earlier this week, Leonard Watters, was at Dublin District Court, where he was charged with falsely accusing X-Factor judge Louis Walsh of groping him in a nightclub.
The UK press rallied round Walsh. He was one of their own. They need him to provide all that X-Factor copy and sensation.
Strauss-Kahn was alone in New York. Had the maid made the allegations in Paris, would the accused have been cast in so dark a light?
And lastly, if Strauss-Kahn lives at Chez Perv, where does New York Post owner Rupert Murdoch live – after all, Murdoch also owns Sky TV, where his son James Murdoch presides over the market leader in pay-pornography..?
