The good Lord old the public ruse that he was staying overnight at hotels London when he was at home in Essex – the one he reached by this chauffeur driven car provided for his use by Essex County Council.
On one occasion, he said he was in London when he was in actual fact aboard a flight to India.
To date, six political pigs have been caught with their snouts in the trough: Lord Taylor (Con.) Eric Illsley, David Chaytor, Jim Devine and Elliot Morley (all Lab.).
