Julia Roberts And Christy Turlington L’Oreal Ads Banned For Lying

by | 27th, July 2011

THOSE images of Julia Roberts and Christy Turlington modelling stuff for L’Oreal have been banned. The Liberal Democrat MP Jo Swinson says the ads adverts were “not representative of the results the products could achieve”.

How the MP knows this is not said. But we are inclined to agree that applying reassuringly expensive face paints is unlikely to turn you into a top model or Oscar winning actress. They only might.

The Advertising Standards Authority says the retouched images were exaggerated and breached its code of conduct.

L’Oreal admits that for the images it did “lighten the skin, clean up make-up, reduce dark shadows and shading around the eyes, smooth the lips and darken the eyebrows“.

But other than that, the stuff is absolutely great and they back it 100% to do the job. As such the firm’s “anti-ageing” foundation is still called anti-ageing foundation – because that is exactly what it is.

TAKE a look at these two pictutes of Mail hack Robert Harman on the golden spit of Sandbanks. If they are in breach of copyright, we will take them down, and not, er, duplicate them… Picture 1 caption: “Here comes the cavalry: Robert Hardman hits the beach” Picture 2 caption: “This is no donkey ride: flanked by two Argentinian minders our man gets into the swing”
