FRASIER! You remember that don’t you? Kelsey Grammer played a funny, but clearly useless man and got into all kinds of japes with his daft family. Well Grammer is looking at going into politics – but that doesn’t mean we should all titter and coo because he was funny on television.

He wants to go from actor to politician in New York City. That’s fine and all, but the deal with Grammer is that he’s a mondo conservative Republican, which makes him a contender for the media’s Complete Nutjob of the Year.

Grammer says:

“I have had a great career and extraordinary opportunities. But I look at my political aspirations as that last piece of my life — where I hope to do something good for people and pay back a little.”

This is Grammer who was one of the few with the brass balls to show up for George Dubya Bush’s incredibly dodgy second term induction. You know the one where every went and protested one off all over him? Kelsey also backed Senator John McCain, even going on the road for him despite the fact that McCain couldn’t even raise his arm in celebration if he’d won. Which he obviously didn’t.

Still, at least Kelsey’s storied life has been littered with tales of failed marriages, sex tapes and an alcohol dependency. Perfect for being a politician, regardless of which wing you’re on.

Go for it, Kelsey…

Image: In July 2010, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Grammer filed for divorce, seeking primary physical custody of the couple’s daughter and son, in addition to child and spousal support. The divorce was finalised on February 10, 2011. Said she: “He was too busy watching FOX News.He didn’t want to cuddle.”
