QPR’s Kindly Joey Barton Orders His PA To Throw Away His Childish Cars And Watches
JOEY Barton, formerly of Newscastle United now of QPR, is talking to The People:
“Obviously I conformed to the footballer thing before, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought a £100,000 car. But you change as you get older. I’m 29. I’m not a young footballer any more. You grow up and see things in a very different way. I thought it was so wrong that I had a collection of designer watches worth hundreds of thousands. People are struggling to put food on the table and there I am with flash watches and cars.
Adding:
“I told my PA to get rid of them.”
When you stop rolling your eyes, you can know that at the same time Barton was being empathetic with the world’s needy, Wolves player Karl Henry told one and all:
“Joey Barton was telling everyone he is on 80 grand a week as usual. That is him,” he said. “He always does that during the game. Always. He riles a few people up when he says those things and tells everybody how great he is. It is just embarrassing really. If that is what he wants to do, he can carry on doing it but that is why a lot of people dislike him…. He’s on 10 grand a week more than last season, he tells me.”
Joey Barton – he just keeps on giving…
